I wanted to send some birthday wishes across the states and thought I'd send a little cake!
This cake is made with a battery powered tea-lite candle. I first wrapped the side of the tea lite in a strip of cream colored paper* after dry embossing it. Then I wrapped a thin ribbon around it to give it a layer cake look. Using the same cream colored paper, I cut out the flower shapes for top and bottom, decorated the petals with hot fix gems. I cut a hole in the center of the top 'flower shape' and slid it over the flame. The bottom wasn't quite as easy, as I had to line it up with little legs and the switch on the bottom, but persistence paid off and I got it done! The top embellishment is paper flowers and leaves. When all was done, I added some stickles glitter.
*the cream paper I used is from The Paper Temptress... it's called Plike (plastic like) and has a really great feel to it. It dry embosses beautifully and is quite soft to the touch.
Paper: The Paper Temptress PLike and Ruche (green leaves)
Cricut: Martha Stewart All Occasions Cake Art
Cuttlebug: D'vine Swirl
Other: Prima Flowers, Imaginisce iRock and gems, stickles
